5.ChangshaMunicipalConstructionEngineeringSchool
In1934,aprivatepublictransportationseniorcivilengineeringvocationalschoolwasestablished,andtheschoolsiteisinBaonanStreet,Changsha.
In1951,itwasrenamedChangshaMunicipalConstructionEngineeringSchool.

In1951,theWuhanMunicipalPeople'sGovernmentchangedtheprivateAuroraMiddleSchooltoWuhanCivilEngineeringSchool.

In1951,HunanProvincialChangshaSeniorIndustrialVocationalSchool,ProvincialChuyiSeniorIndustrialVocationalSchool,ProvincialNewChemicalSeniorIndustrialVocationalSchool,ProvincialXiangxiangSeniorIndustrialVocationalSchoolDyeingandWeavingMaterials,andPrivateLiteratureandArtMiddleSchoolweremergedintoHunanSeniorIndustrialSchool.
InAugust1952,thecivilengineeringofthefourschoolsofWuchangAdvancedIndustrialSchool,HunanAdvancedIndustrialSchool,ZhengzhouIndustrialSchoolofHenanProvince,XiangxiangAdvancedIndustrialVocationalSchoolandWuhanCivilEngineeringSchool,ChangshaMunicipalConstructionEngineeringSchoolThewholewasmergedinLushan,JiangxitoformtheZhongnanArchitecturalEngineeringSchool.Mafangshan,Wuchang,wasselectedastheschoolsite,whichissubordinatetotheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentoftheCentralSouthMilitaryandPoliticalCommittee.
OnSeptember23,1953,theZhongnanConstructionEngineeringBureau,theYangtzeRiverWaterConservancyCommissionandtheZhongnanHigherEducationBureaudecidedtomergetheCivilEngineeringDepartmentoftheZhujiangWaterConservancySchoolintotheZhongnanConstructionEngineeringSchool.
InMay1954,theZhongnanArchitecturalEngineeringSchoolwasdirectlyledbytheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentoftheCentralPeople'sGovernmentandwasrenamedWuchangArchitecturalEngineeringSchooloftheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentoftheCentralPeople'sGovernment.
OnJune2,1956,WuchangArchitecturalEngineeringSchoolsetupaneveningschoolandatthesametimeestablishedabranchschoolinHankou.
OnMay28,1958,theMinistryofConstructionEngineeringdecidedtoestablishtheWuchangConstructionEngineeringCollegeoftheDepartmentofConstructionEngineeringonthebasisofWuchangConstructionEngineeringSchool;Theheatingandventilation,reinforcedconcretestructuremanufacturingandequipmentmajorsofZhangjiakouConstructionEngineeringSchoolweremovedtoWuchangConstructionEngineeringCollege.InSeptemberofthesameyear,theschoolwasrenamedWuhanConstructionEngineeringCollegeoftheMinistryofConstructionEngineering;onDecember31,withtheapprovaloftheMinistryofConstructionEngineering,theschoolwasupgradedfromajuniorcollegetoanundergraduate,andtheschoolwasnamedWuhanInstituteofConstructionIndustry.
OnJanuary11,1960,WuhanInstituteofArchitectureandTechnologywasrenamedWuhanInstituteofUrbanConstructionEngineering.OnJune2,theMinistryofConstructionEngineeringlistedWuhanUrbanConstructionCollegeasoneofthekeyuniversitiesundertheMinistry.
InSeptember1961,accordingtotheinstructionsoftheMinistryofConstructionEngineering,theWuhanWaterSupplyandDrainageCollege,runbytheZhongnanBranchoftheWaterSupplyandDrainageDesignInstitute,wasmergedintotheWuhanInstituteofUrbanConstruction.
OnAugust1,1963,theMinistryofConstructionEngineeringnotifiedthecollege:AfterstudyingwiththeMinistryofEducation,itwasdecidedtochangethenameofthesecondaryschooldepartmentofthecollegetoWuhanConstructionEngineeringSchooloftheMinistryofConstructionEngineeringfromthe1963-1964schoolyear.TheUniversityDepartmentstillretainsthenameofWuhanUrbanConstructionCollegebeforethestudentgraduates,anditwillberevokedafterthestudentgraduates.
InJanuary1965,theschoolnameofWuhanConstructionEngineeringSchoolwasofficiallyopened,anditwasstilldirectlyundertheleadershipoftheConstructionEngineeringDepartment.
In1966,the"CulturalRevolution"brokeout.Schoolswereclosedtocauserevolution,andenrollmentwasstopped.
OnNovember11,1969,theMilitaryControlCommitteeoftheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentoftheChinesePeople'sLiberationArmydecidedtodelegatetheWuhanConstructionEngineeringSchooltotheleadershipoftheRevolutionaryCommitteeofthe102EngineeringCommandHeadquarters.

1.NortheastMilitaryEngineeringCollege-ShenyangConstructionMachinerySchool
InApril1948,theNortheastBureauoftheCentralCommitteeoftheCommunistPartyofChinaandthePartyCommitteeoftheMilitaryIndustryDepartmentoftheNortheastMilitaryRegiondecidedtoestablishtheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyNortheastMilitaryRegionMilitaryIndustrySpecialSchool((ReferredtoasNortheastMilitaryEngineeringCollege),HeChanggong,MinisterofMilitaryEngineeringoftheNortheastMilitaryRegion,servedashonoraryprincipal,andZhaoPinsanaspresidentandsecretary.InAugustofthesameyear,theschoolbegantobebuiltinDunhuaCounty,JilinProvince,andthentheschoolsitewasmovedtoShamantun,Harbin.
AftertheSpringFestivalin1949,theschoolmovedtoWenguantun,Shenyang.InDecember,theNortheastMilitaryEngineeringCollegewasrenamedShenyangOrdnanceInstitute.

InJune1950,theschoolwasrenamedtheMilitaryIndustryBureauIndustrialSpecialSchool;inthesummerofthesameyear,theschoolwaschangedtoahigh-levelNortheastSoldierEngineeringschool.InOctober,accordingtotheinstructionsoftheNortheastMinistryofIndustry,theschoolwasexpandedintoaregularuniversity-likeNortheastOrdnanceTechnicalCollege(NortheastOrdnanceTechnicalCollegeforshort),with3departmentsofweaponengineering,ammunitionengineeringandgunpowderengineering.InNovember1952,theschoolwasundertheleadershipoftheSecondMinistryofMachineryIndustryoftheCentralPeople'sGovernmentfromtheCentralMilitaryIndustryBureau.
OnFebruary25,1953,theSecondMinistryofMachineryIndustrynotifiedNortheastOrdnanceTechnicalCollegetoendattheendofFebruaryofthatyear.AllteachersandsophomoresintheordnanceindustryweretransferredtoBeijingInstituteofTechnology.Onthe1st,the"SecondMinistryofMachineryIndustryCivilEngineeringandConstructionTechnologySchool"willbeestablishedattheoriginalschoolsiteinShenyang.OnSeptember3,theschoolwasrenamedNortheastConstructionEngineeringSchool.OnOctober1,theNortheastConstructionEngineeringSchoolwasplacedundertheCentralConstructionEngineeringDepartmentbytheSecondMinistryofMachineryIndustry,undertheleadershipoftheNortheastConstructionEngineeringBureau.
In1954,HarbinIndustrialSchoolmergedwithNortheastArchitecturalEngineeringSchool.InJanuary,itwasrelocatedinNantaStreet,ShenheDistrict,ShenyangCity,andrebuilt;inApril,NortheastArchitecturalEngineeringSchoolwasrenamed"ShenyangConstructionEngineeringSchooloftheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentoftheCentralPeople'sGovernment".
OnMay6,1955,theschoolwasrenamed"ShenyangArchitecturalEngineeringSchooloftheMinistryofConstructionEngineering",andtheschoolsystemwaschangedto4years.
OnJuly17,1956,theschoolwasrenamed"ShenyangConstructionMachinerySchooloftheMinistryofConstructionEngineering".
2.ShenyangBuildingMaterialsIndustrySchool
Atthebeginningof1951,ShenyangBuildingMaterialsSeniorVocationalSchoolsetupaschoolinMaojuntun,DadongDistrict,Shenyang.TheschoolisaffiliatedtotheMinistryofHeavyIndustryofthePeople'sGovernmentofNortheastChina.Afterthesummervacationofthesameyear,theschoolwastransferredtotheCentralMinistryofHeavyIndustryBuildingMaterialsIndustryAdministration,andtheschoolsitewasmovedtoNo.5,BeiyiLane,ZhongyiStreet,HuangguDistrict,Shenyang,andtheschoolwasrenamed"ShenyangBuildingMaterialsIndustrySchooloftheMinistryofHeavyIndustry".
OnJune1,1956,theschoolwaschangedtotheMinistryofBuildingMaterialsIndustryoftheCentralPeople'sGovernment,andthenameoftheschoolwaschangedto"ShenyangBuildingMaterialsIndustrySchooloftheMinistryofBuildingMaterialsIndustry"atthesametime.
3.ShenyangPlannedEconomicsSchool
In1955,theSecondCadreSchooloftheNortheastEngineeringManagementBureauwasestablishedandtheschoolwaslocatedinHeilongjiang,HuangguDistrict,ShenyangNo.2,Section1,Street.
InAugust1956,theMinistryofConstructionEngineeringtookovertheSecondCadreSchooloftheNortheastEngineeringManagementBureau.OnAugust25,theMinistryofHigherEducationapprovedtheMinistryofConstructionEngineeringtoopentheShenyangPlannedEconomicsSchool,whichwasestablishedonthebasisoftheSecondCadreSchool,locatedonQishanRoad,HuangguDistrict,ShenyangCity.
4.BeijingInstituteofConstructionIndustry
In1955,theNorthChinaEngineeringAdministrationCadreSchooloftheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentoftheCentralPeople’sGovernment(laterrenamedtheNorthChinaConstructionEngineeringDepartment)CadreSchool)wasestablished.
In1956,theSeniorCadreSchooloftheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentwasestablished.
In1957,theNorthChinaCadreSchooloftheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentandtheSeniorCadreSchooloftheConstructionEngineeringDepartmentmerged.ThenameoftheschoolisstilltheSeniorCadreSchooloftheConstructionEngineeringDepartment.
OnAugust28,1958,theMinistryofConstructionEngineeringreportedtotheCentralPropagandaDepartmentandtheMinistryofEducationfortherecord,anddecidedtorebuildtheSeniorCadreSchooloftheMinistryofConstructionEngineeringintotheBeijingInstituteofConstructionIndustry,andsetupTianjinCulturalCadreSchoolandBeijingConstructionInstitute.TheSchoolofMechanicalEngineeringandBeijingAmateurArchitecturalEngineeringCollegeareplacedundertheacademyastheaffiliatedschoolsoftheacademy.OnSeptember1stofthesameyear,theBeijingInstituteofConstructionIndustrywasformallyestablished.ThecampuswaslocatedinXizhimen,Beijing.ZhangJunwasthepartysecretaryanddean.Therewere210facultymembers,including70teachers.

InMay1958,theMinistryofConstructionandEngineeringdecidedtoestablishShenyangInstituteofBuildingMaterialsIndustry.InAugustofthesameyear,ShenyangConstructionMachinerySchool,ShenyangConstructionMaterialsIndustrySchoolandShenyangPlanningEconomicsSchoolmergedtoformShenyangConstructionMaterialsIndustryCollegeinNanhu,Shenyang.
In1959,thePartyGroupoftheMinistryofConstructionEngineeringdecidedtomakeoverallarrangementsforBeijingInstituteofConstructionIndustryandShenyangInstituteofBuildingMaterialsIndustryasa"gameofchess"andmadethe"DecisionontheOverallArrangementofBeijing-ShenzhenColleges."Inthesameyear,theundergraduatesrecruitedbythetwoinstitutesandtheundergraduatesrecruitedbytheShenyangInstituteofBuildingMaterialsIndustryin1958wereconcentratedinBeijing.
In1960,theHydrogeologyCollegeofBeijingSurveyInstitutewasmergedintoBeijingInstituteofConstructionIndustry.
In1961,thePartyGroupoftheMinistryofConstructionandEngineeringdecidedtoclosetheBeijingInstituteofSilicateIndustryandtransferitsthree-yearjuniorcollegestudentstotheBeijingInstituteofArchitectureandTechnology.
In1962,BeijingInstituteofArchitectureandConstructionstoppedenrollingstudentsforoneyear.
In1966,whenthe"CulturalRevolution"began,theschoolbegantolistentoclassestomakearevolutionandstoppedenrollingstudents.
In1969,theundergraduatedegreeofShenyangInstituteofBuildingMaterialsIndustrywasmergedintoBeijingInstituteofArchitectureandTechnology;inOctober,becauseofLinBiao’s“OrderNo.1”,BeijingInstituteofArchitectureandArchitectureselectedthetacticalrelocationsiteinHunanChangde601Mine;InNovember,theschoolcompletedtherelocationtask.
Mergeandform
July13,1971,theNationalCapitalConstructionRevolutionaryCommitteenoticeTheRevolutionaryCommitteeofHubeiProvincedecidedtomovetheBeijingInstituteofArchitectureandEngineeringtoWuhan,mergewiththeWuhanInstituteofArchitectureandEngineering,andbecometheHubeiInstituteofArchitectureandTechnology,anddelegatetheleadershipofHubeiProvince.OnOctober21,therelocationandmergeroftheschoolwascompleted.
InJanuary1972,theRevolutionaryCommitteeofHubeiInstituteofConstructionIndustrywasestablished.InDecember,theProvisionalPartyCommitteeoftheHubeiInstituteofConstructionIndustryoftheCommunistPartyofChinawasestablished.
In1978,HubeiInstituteofConstructionIndustrywaslistedasanationalkeyuniversity,andtheschoolleadershipsystemwaschangedtothedualleadershipoftheNationalBuildingMaterialsIndustryBureauandHubeiProvince,withtheNationalBuildingMaterialsIndustryBureauasthemainstay.InMayofthesameyear,itwasrenamedWuhanInstituteofBuildingMaterialsIndustry.
In1981,theStateCouncilapprovedtheestablishmentofWuhanUrbanConstructionCollege,basedontherelevantmajorsofWuhanInstituteofBuildingMaterialsIndustry.
In1985,WuhanInstituteofBuildingMaterialsIndustrywasrenamedWuhanUniversityofTechnology.
OnSeptember6,1996,theStateAdministrationofBuildingMaterialsIndustryandthePeople'sGovernmentofHubeiProvincesignedanagreementtojointlybuildWuhanUniversityofTechnology.InNovember,theschoolpassedthepre-examinationofthe"211Project"and"211Project"departments.
InOctober1998,itwastransferredtoauniversitydirectlyundertheMinistryofEducation.

InJuly1945,theMinistryofEducationoftheNationalGovernmentappointedLiuKaikuntoberesponsibleforthepreparationofmaritimevocationalschools.InAugust,JapansurrenderedandtheWarofResistancewasvictorious,andtheMinistryofEducationoftheNationalistGovernmentabandoneditsplantoestablishaschoolinChongqing.InSeptember,LiuKaikunledthepreparatoryteamtoWuhanfromChongqing,andfoundtheformersiteoftheDeliBusinessPavilionattheXiaxinheDeliBusinessPavilioninWuchangastheschoolsite.

OnJanuary1,1946,theNationalMaritimeVocationalSchoolhelditsopeningceremony.OnMay16,1949,Wuhanwasliberated,andtheNationalMaritimeVocationalSchoolwastakenoverbytheTrafficTakeoverDepartmentofWuhanMilitaryControlCommission.Inthesameyear,theCentralPlainsProvisionalPeople'sGovernmentdecidedtoestablishtheSchoolofTransportation,undertheleadershipoftheCentralPlainsProvisionalPeople'sGovernmentMinistryofCommunications;inAugust,theCentralPlainsProvisionalPeople'sGovernmentMinistryofCommunicationsdecidedtomergetheNationalMaritimeVocationalSchoolandtheTransportationCollege.
InFebruary1950,theCentralPlainsProvisionalPeople'sGovernmentwasabolished,andthecollegewaschangedtotheleadershipoftheMinistryofCommunicationsoftheCentralSouthMilitaryandPoliticalCommittee.
InJanuary1951,thecollegewasundertheleadershipoftheMinistryofCommunicationsoftheCentralPeople'sGovernment;inJuly,thecollegewasrenamedWuhanJiaotongCollege,andtheschoolsitewasmovedfromHankoutoWuchangXiaxinhe.
In1952,theschoolwasrenamedWuhanRiverTransportCollege.Since1952,theoriginalscaleandprofessionalsettingsofthecollegehavebeenreduced.35shipbuildingmajorsandstudentsweretransferredtoShanghaiJiaotongUniversity,40highwayengineeringandstudents,32automobilmajorsandstudentsweretransferredtoNanchangUniversity,bridgemajor33peopleweretransferredtotheSchoolofEngineering,SunYat-senUniversity,Guangzhou.
InJanuary1957,theschoolwasrenamedWuhanInstituteofWaterTransportEngineering.
InAugust1963,theMinistryofCommunicationsmademajoradjustmentstothehighereducationinstitutionsaffiliatedtotheMinistry.Theteachersandstudentsofthecollege'sportelectrificationmajorweretransferredtoDalianMaritimeUniversity,andtheteachersandstudentsmajoringinwatertransporteconomicsweretransferredtotheShanghaiMaritimeUniversityandthemajorofhydraulicengineering.TeachersandstudentsweretransferredtoChongqingJiaotongUniversity,riverboatdriving,marineengineeringmanagementandothermajorstoclose.Atthesametime,teachersandstudentsofDalianMaritimeUniversitymajoringinshipbuildingandmarineinternalcombustionengines,andShanghaiMaritimeUniversitymajoringinmarinemachineryweretransferredtothecollege.
InAugust1965,teachersandstudentsofDalianMaritimeUniversitymajoringinshipbuildingmachineryandShanghaiMaritimeUniversityweretransferredtothecollege.
InMay1966,afterthe"CulturalRevolution"brokeout,theschool'spartyandgovernmentorganswereparalyzedandtheschool'sorderwaschaotic.
InOctober1967,the"InstituteRevolutionaryCommittee"wasestablished.
InNovember1968,the"workpropagandateam"enteredthecollegeandannouncedthatitwouldtakeovertheleadershipofthecollege.
InFebruary1970,theCentralMinistryofFinanceandtheMilitaryManagementCommitteeoftheMinistryofCommunicationsdelegatedthecollegetotheleadershipoftheHubeiProvincialRevolutionaryCommittee.
Second.WuhanRiverTransportTechnicalSchool
AroundAugust1945,theGuangdongProvincialGovernmentoftheformerKuomintangbeganplanningtoestablishanadvancednavigationvocationalschool.LocatedinShantouCity,GuangdongProvince,theschoolisnamed"GuangdongChaoshanAdvancedMerchantMarineVocationalSchool".ItbeganenrollmentinOctoberandbelongstotheGuangdongProvincialDepartmentofEducation.
OnOctober24,1949,Shantouwasliberated,andtheShantouMilitaryManagementCommitteetookovertheschool.ThenameoftheschoolwaschangedtotheGuangdongProvincialChaoshanAdvancedMerchantMarineTechnicalSchool.
In1952,theformerCentralSouthMilitaryandPoliticalCommitteedecidedtotransfertheGuangdongProvincialChaoshanAdvancedMerchantShippingTechnicalSchooltotheYangtzeRiverNavigationAdministration,andtheschoolnamewaschangedtotheYangtzeRiverNavigationSchool.
In1953and1954,themarinelocomotiveofGuangdongShanweiFisheriesSchoolandthereporttrainingclassofHarbinRiverTransportSchoolweretransferredtotheschoolsuccessively.
In1954,theMinistryofEducationagreedthattheschoolwasunderthedirectleadershipoftheMinistryofCommunications,andtheschoolwasrenamedWuhanRiverTransportSchooloftheMinistryofCommunications.
InJanuary1955,theteachersandstudentsoftheschoolmovedfromShantou,Guangdongtothenewthree-storybuildinginWuchangDistrict,Wuhan.
OnJune27,1958,theMinistryofTransportationtransferredtheschooltoHubeiProvinceandchangeditsnametoHubeiRiverTransportSchool.
FromSeptember1960tothespringof1961,theschoolwasorderedtomovetoShayang.Inearly1961,undertheinstructionsoftheHubeiProvincialPartyCommittee,theschoolrelocationwasstopped,andallteachersandstudentswhohadmovedtoShayangmovedbacktoWuhan.
OnJune22,1965,theMinistryofCommunicationsdecidedtohandovertheschooltotheleadershipoftheYangtzeRiverShippingCompany,andthendecidedtotransferthewatertransportmanagementmajortoWuhanPortVocationalSchooltotakeover;onJuly22,theMinistryofCommunicationsagreedtotheYangtzeRiverShippingTechnologyTheschoolmergedwithWuhanRiverTransportSchool,thesitewaslocatedattheoriginalWuhanRiverTransportSchool,andtheschoolnameisstillWuhanRiverTransportSchool.

OnJune25,1958,inordertomeettheneedsofthegreatleapforwardinindustrialandagriculturalproductionandtomeettheneedfortalentsinWuhan’slocalindustrialconstructionInurgentneed,theWuhanMunicipalCommitteeoftheCommunistPartyofChinadecidedtoestablishWuhanInstituteofTechnology.Afterrepeatedinvestigations,itwasdeterminedthatthebranchofWuhanTeachersCollegeinMafangshan,Wuchang(formerlyHubeiTeachersTechnicalCollege)wasusedastheschoolsite.

InJune1960,theleadershipofWuhanInstituteofTechnologywastransferredtotheleadershipofWuhanMechanicalandElectricalBureau.Inthesameyear,theInstituteofWuhanMechanicalandElectricalBureaumovedtoMafangshanandwasplacedunderWuhanInstituteofTechnology;WuhanRadioSchoolwasalsoplacedundertheleadershipofWuhanInstituteofTechnology.
InSeptember1961,HubeiProvinceandWuhanCitydecidedtomergeHubeiInstituteofChemicalTechnology,WuhanInstituteofTechnology,andHubeiInstituteofTechnology(undergraduatepart)intoWuhanInstituteofTechnologyandbelongtotheleadershipofWuhanCity.
In1963,theMinistryofAgriculturalMachineryIndustrytookovertheWuhanInstituteofTechnology,andtheundergraduateprogramwaschangedtoafive-yearsystem.
InMay1964,theautomobiletractormajorofInnerMongoliaInstituteofTechnologywasrevoked,and36studentsinthethirdgradeweretransferredtotheautomobiletractormajorofWuhanInstituteofTechnology.

馆藏资源
截至2018年12月,学校有4座图书馆,共有纸本文献351.2万册(生均54.57册)、各类中外文数据库大库79个(子库266个),有电子图书7691498册,2017年文献购置费2828.12万元,新增纸本图书117298册、电子图书93817册。各学院(部)建有图书分馆(资料室),与图书馆共同组成了图书馆系统。

合作交流
截至2019年4月,学校与美国、英国、日本、法国、澳大利亚、俄罗斯、荷兰等国家的190多所大学和科研机构建立了人才培养和科技合作关系,聘请了300余名中国以外的学者担任学校战略科学家、客座和名誉教授。2009年以来,先后与美国、英国、意大利、荷兰、日本的著名高校建立了16个国际合作研究平台,包括武汉理工大学—密歇根大学新能源材料技术联合实验室、武汉理工大学—南安普顿大学高性能船舶技术联合中心、武汉理工大学-赛默飞世尔科技联合实验室等。
2016年,学校与英国威尔士三一圣大卫大学合作建立的首个海外校区正式运行。
2018年,学校与法国艾克斯-马赛大学合作成立武汉理工大学艾克斯马赛学院。

形象标识
校徽
学校校徽包括校标和徽章。
武汉理工大学校标为圆形图案,校标上部自左而右环绕中文校名标准全称,下部自左而右环绕英文校名标准全称,中间主体由三部分组成,表示三校合并在一起合作和并进,形似帆船在海上乘风破浪,喻意武汉理工不畏艰难,开拓进取,同时也是“理工”拼音的前两个字母的大写。
徽章为教职工和学生佩戴的题有校名的长方形证章,确定时间为2008年1月。

文化活动
截至2012年9月,学校开展了大学生“金秋艺术节”、“创新杯”科技文化节、“社团文化节”、“求索杯”大学生综合知识竞赛、“世纪杯”大学生辩论赛、“理工大讲堂”、“闻贤讲坛”、“研究生科技节”等活动,各学院也开展了诸如“航海文化节”、“汽车文化节”、“外语节”等文化活动。学校校园文化建设成果先后荣获教育部“一等奖”和湖北省“特等奖”;2017年第十七届“创新杯”科技文化节收到学生参赛作品800余项,相关科技类社团活动150余场次。
学校大学生艺术团曾先后赴法国、俄罗斯、韩国参加国际文化交流活动,连续两届在教育部主办的“全国大学生艺术节”展演中荣获二等奖,2015年2月作为湖北省代表参加全国第四届大学生艺术节开幕式表演。
截至2018年10月,每年举办迎新晚会、新年音乐会、“金秋杯”艺术文化节、经典剧目高校行等文化艺术活动10余场;已注册学生社团98个,其中学校桥牌协会代表国家赴克罗地亚参加世界大学生桥牌锦标赛取得第十一名,由经济学人协会创办的湖北省大学生经济学术研讨会已连续举办九届;开展“博学科普讲坛”系列科普教育活动,每年开展活动200余场次,25000余人次参与;近三年共设立暑期社会实践项目541项,其中校级项目162项,院级项目379项,学校每年新增共建大学生暑期社会实践基地20余个,累计共建暑期社会实践基地100余个;平均每年开展各类志愿服务活动1350余次、9300余人参与、累计提供35万小时志愿服务,多次获“全国大中专学生志愿者暑期‘三下乡’社会实践活动优秀单位”、中国青年志愿者优秀组织奖、中国百优青年志愿者服务集体、西部计划优秀高校项目办、湖北省百万青年志愿者助残先进集体等荣誉;在3届中国志愿服务项目大赛中,学校各类志愿服务项目荣获金奖5项,银奖4项,铜奖1项,总成绩连续3届位列全国高校第一名。
