Origin of the product
On September 28, 2002, the release of the Godson-1 CPU chip caused a large response in various media including the Internet, among which encouragement and appreciation There are more and support, but some are doubtful, questioned or even opposed. At that time, I collected some questions from netizens and reporters about Godson, and wanted to answer one by one to clarify some facts, but there were concerns. Because the speeches in the media are very different from the academic papers we publish after doing research. Academic papers are published after reviewing by many peer experts. Generally, there are no major problems. Even if there are doubts, when discussing with the author, both parties have a lot of consensus and a good basis for discussion. The authors in the media have different industries, professional backgrounds, interests, etc., and some issues are really difficult to explain. It happened that Academician Li Guojie’s "Strategic Thinking on the Development of Godson CPUs" discussed the development strategy of the Godson series, and Dr. Hu Weiwu’s "Our Godson No. 1" introduced the chip development process. I also wrote an article "Also talk about how to develop China’s "CPU Chip" can basically answer most of the doubts. My idea of writing another article was dispelled by the idea of "Actions speak louder than words", waiting to prove everything with the success of Loongson's follow-up chip research and development and industrialization.
However, some of the questions mentioned above are still circulated in certain areas, and may have an adverse impact on the in-depth industrialization of Godson and subsequent research and development work. In the face of such a situation, although I don't want to do the "fancy style" of "speaking but not practicing", I can't be willing to be the "stupid style" of "only practicing but not talking".
Product overview
The Loongson-1 CPU is manufactured using 0.18um CMOS process, which has good low power consumption and an average power consumption of 0.5 watts. A special design is provided on-chip The hardware mechanism can resist buffer overflow attacks. The hardware fundamentally resists the danger of buffer overflow attacks, thereby greatly increasing the security of the server. Network security equipment based on the Loongson CPU can meet the needs of national government departments and corporate agencies for network and information system security.

Product model
< p>Loongson-2 processorThe Loongson-2 processor is manufactured using a 180nm CMOS process, with 13.5 million transistors integrated on the chip, with a silicon area of 6.2 mm × 6.7 mm, a maximum frequency of 500 MHz, and a power consumption of 3 -5 watts. Loongson 2 has realized an advanced four-issue superscalar super-pipeline structure, with 64KB of on-chip first-level instruction and data caches, and up to 8MB of off-chip second-level caches. The measured performance of the Loongson-2 SPEC CPU2000 standard test program is 8-10 times that of the Loongson-1. The Linux-PC system based on Godson-2 can satisfy most desktop applications.
Loongson-2 enhanced processor
Loongson-2 enhanced processor (ie Loongson 2E) is a general-purpose RISC processor that implements 64-bit MIPSⅢ instruction set, using 90nm CMOS technology, the wiring layer is seven layers of copper metal, the number of chip transistors is 47 million, the chip area is 6.8mm×5.2mm, the highest operating frequency is 1GHz, the typical operating frequency is 800MHz, and the measured power consumption is 5-7 watts. The Loongson 2E has an on-chip 128KB first-level cache, 512KB second-level cache, a single-precision peak floating-point operation speed of 8 billion operations/sec, and a double-precision floating-point operation speed of 4 billion operations/sec.
