Introduction to broadband services
Broadband services are high-speed Internet access services provided by communication companies. Users can access broadband networks through ADSL or optical fiber to achieve high-speed Internet surfing. It is characterized by real-time online, no dialing, and no influence on making calls while surfing the Internet. Reliable and safe, you can enjoy more multimedia interactive services.
Broadband services are relatively narrowband services. Generally speaking, communication services with a rate lower than 2Mb/s are collectively referred to as narrowband services, such as those provided by telephone networks and N-ISDN. For communication services higher than 2Mb/s, such as frame relay services, video on demand, ATM services, TV conferences, etc., are called broadband communication services.
The characteristics of broadband services include: real-time, users can enjoy high-bandwidth services such as multimedia without delay; interactivity, convenient and quick interaction between users and between users and service platforms; diversity , The business content is rich and diverse, and the equipment is not limited to mobile terminals. The future high-bandwidth wireless access provides technical guarantee for new business forms. We need to pay attention to studying the characteristics of various broadband services, technical implementation solutions, etc.
Currently, there are two main broadband access technologies in use: ADSL and FTTX+LAN.
ADSL
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is asymmetric digital subscriber line technology. It utilizes the existing pair of ordinary telephone lines, the uplink (from user to network) can reach up to 1Mkbps; the downlink (from network to user) can reach up to 8Mkbps; the transmission distance is about 3kM-5kM. Through the telephone line, you can surf the Internet at a rate 100 times faster than that of an ordinary MODEM and enjoy high-speed multimedia services.
ADSL technology is a new high-speed broadband technology that runs on the original ordinary telephone line. It uses the existing pair of telephone copper wires to provide users with asymmetrical transmission rate (bandwidth ). The asymmetry is mainly reflected in the asymmetry between the uplink rate (up to 640Kbps) and the downlink rate (up to 8Mdps). Uplink (from user to network) is low-speed transmission, up to 640Kbps; downlink (from network to user) is high-speed transmission, up to 8Mbps. It was originally developed mainly for video-on-demand services. With the development of technology, it has gradually become a more convenient broadband access technology, which is valued by the telecommunications sector. Through the set-top box of network TV, many network applications that could not be realized at low speed can be realized before.
FTTX+LAN
"FTTX+LAN" broadband service is a broadband IP access service officially opened by Taiyuan Communication. "FTTX+LAN" uses the optical fiber + LAN access method, that is, the Ethernet is directly connected to the user end, and the user can access the broadband IP network at a maximum speed of 100 megabits through the LAN. "FTTX+LAN" access requires Category 5 cable integrated wiring, which is more suitable for various group users, such as: government, enterprises, various data centers, schools, informationized communities, commercial office buildings, hotels, etc.
This is a broadband access solution that uses optical fiber plus Category 5 network lines to realize Gigabit fiber to the central switch of the community (building), and the central switch and corridor switch use 100M fiber or Category 5 network. Line connection, integrated wiring is used in the corridor, the user's Internet speed can reach 10Mbps, the network is expandable, and the investment scale is small. In addition, there are multiple access methods such as fiber to the office, fiber to the home, fiber to the desktop to meet the needs of different users. The FTTX+LAN mode uses a star network topology, and users share bandwidth.
